The Pinewood Derby is a beloved tradition in Scouting, where scouts design, carve, and race their very own wooden cars down a track. It’s an exciting challenge that tests both craftsmanship and speed, as each car competes for the title of fastest racer.
This year, the Sojadi District Pinewood Derby promises to be a highlight of the Scouting calendar, with participants from all across the district coming together to show off their craftsmanship and race their cars for the top spot. Event Details:
Date: Saturday, March 15th, 2025
Time: Races begin at 1:00 PM (Registration opens at 12:00 PM)
Location: Grace United Methodist Church, 6th Ave & Commercial St., Emporia, KS
Who Can Participate: All Cub Scouts in the Sojadi District. Adults or older Scouts may compete in the Outlaw Division.
Cost: Free for all Cub Scouts. Outlaw Division will be $10 at the door.
Youth participants will also have the chance to compete in various categories, including Best Design and Best Scout Spirit, ensuring a fun and competitive environment for all.
How to Participate:
Cub Scouts who wish to race must register through their individual Packs. Cars must meet the official Pinewood Derby specifications, which include size and weight limitations. See the Pinewood Derby Rules information page below for more details.
Spectators and families are encouraged to come early to grab a seat and cheer on their favorite racers.
