Jayhawk Area Council strives to offer the nation's foremost Scouting program for all individuals by:
- Raising the awareness of our Scouting Units for the need for inclusiveness of all youths with varying abilities
- Setting the stage for success by providing support and resources to unit leaders, parents, and units to deliver a quality Scouting experience for all Scouts
- Offering the latest resources and connections for Scout Leaders to have the opportunity to be continuously educated and trained
Our goal is to provide all individuals with opportunities to participate in the positive, all-inclusive program offered by the Boy Scouts of America to the best of their abilities.
How can we help?
Scouts:
- Help create individual Scout Achievement Plan
- Provide hands-on resources to individual Scouts or Packs/Troops
- Provide assistance at Day Camps and Summer Camps
Leaders:
- Teach Patrol Leaders, Adult Leaders, and Parents how to help a Scout become successful with any disability.
- Create lessons to help the Scout meet all requirements of the rank or achievements/merit badges.
- Train leaders on advancement procedures for special needs Scouts.
- Consult on issues impeding a Scout's progress with the parents and leadership- physical, cognitive, behavior, sensory.

The Individual Scout Advancement Plan provides Scouts, within reasonable guidelines, with the opportunity to achieve their personal goals and, through creative thinking and action, remove unnecessary barriers that may impede their advancement. This is done so as not to lessen the relative challenges of the Scouting experience and the primary goal of personal growth.
The Individual Scout Profile (ISP) helps leaders and parents connect to provide a richer and more meaningful Scouting experience for each youth by allowing leaders to focus on each Scout's strengths and special interests while promoting inclusion and acceptance for all within the unit.
We are a brand new committee committed to helping Scouts with special needs have the best Scouting experience possible. This will be our page to provide you with guidance on what to do, where to look, and who to contact.
