Use of Sales Tax Exemption Certificates

Purchases made at the Jayhawk Scout Shop can qualify for sales tax exemption if the following criteria are met:

• The unit has a current Sales Tax Exemption Certificate on file
• Purchases are made using a unit check or charged against your unit deposit account by an authorized user
• Purchases are awards or recognition items for members of that unit or for general unit purposes

Personal items such as uniforms, neckerchiefs, handbooks, or personal gear will not be tax exempt regardless of method of payment. The State of Kansas does not allow personal credit cards or checks to be used as method of payments for items that are normally subject to tax exemption.

**Please make sure your list of authorized users on the unit deposit account are current with the council office.**
