Sponsorship Opportunities for Topeka's Top 20 Under 40
What does the program benefit?
Each year thousands of youth in our area are benefiting from the funds raised through Topeka’s Top 20 Under 40. It provides important revenue to maintain the programs that are developing tomorrow’s leaders. Kids like Octavion, who are looking for fun, excitement, and time with friends are really learning self-reliance, team work, self-esteem and determination.
Octavion also uses his Scouting time to connect with his mom. Their circumstance is unique as she is an inmate at the Topeka Women’s Correctional Facility. Through the Breaking Barriers program of Scouting, they have found a positive way to bond and connect. Both Octavion and his mom are learning skills that will last a lifetime.
The Breaking Barriers program is one of numerous programs that Topeka’s 20 Under 40 program supports. In five years, Topeka’s 20 Under 40 program has generated more than $50,000 for the Jayhawk Area Council. This money gives over 5,500 youth in an eleven county area the opportunity to participate in programs like Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, National Youth Leadership Training, Venturing, Exploring, and ScoutReach. Not only does this award raise funds for important program, but it also recognizes truly remarkable people serving our community.
How does the program work?
Community members and leaders nominate individuals who will be over the age of 18 but under the age of 40 as of May 31st. Visit our Nominations page for more information on who to nominate.
Once nominated, individuals are invited to apply for the honor. At the time of notification they are also informed of an information session with past honorees and past selection committee members who speak about best practices and offer tips that helped them with their application.
Applications must be received by the Jayhawk Area Council by 6:00 AM on July 6th.
Applications are then distributed to the Selection Committee members for evaluation. Following a meeting in early August, announcements of the new class of honorees are made the second or third week of August.
