Join us Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at Washburn University for the Annual Washburn University Merit Badge Day.

The Jayhawk Area Council volunteers and staff have worked very hard on providing a wide range of merit badges to all Scouts. We hope you all can attend.

The list of merit badge counselor is provided on the Activities tab we are going to be updating classes as needed, there are a few classes that are not up yet due to waiting on confirmation of the merit badge counselor.

Schedule for the Day

When arriving to the University at Check-in will be at the Memorial Union building there is a map in the Parents guide to help navigate.

7:15AM = Check-In

8:00AM = Opening Ceremony

8:30AM – 12:00PM = AM Sessions begin

12:00PM – 1:30PM = Lunch (taco bar)

1:30PM – 4:00PM = PM Session

4:15PM = Closing thoughts

5:00PM = Scouts must be picked up

What is needed at Check-In

At Check-in you must have the following information for your Scout and Adult leaders:

  • BSA Health Form A&B
Registration Information

Registration opens December 20th

Registration will close on February 13th at 11:30pm. That is a firm date as we are required to provide numbers of attendees to the university.

How do I select Merit Badges?

At check-out, select the “Add Information”.

After you have added information, click “save”.

This will take your event order. An additional button will appear labeled “Select Activities”. Click on that. This will bring up the current merit badge list. You will have the opportunity to change classes as space allows. This can only be done until registration is closed. After it is closed, moving of classes will be limited.

What Merit Badges are being offered?

We are excited to offer a variety of merit badges this year. What is listed under the “Activities” tab of the registration platform, is our current list. We will be adding more once counselors are confirmed.

Aviation Merit Badge

If you are taking the aviation merit badge you will be meeting at Aviation Explore Post 8 headquarters at 7:30am at 3600 NE Sardou Ave, Topeka, KS 66616 to check in and take their merit badge.
Each youth will have to have a ride there and back to Washburn with the appropriate youth protected guide lines.
ride will not be provided. Lunch will be at Washburn student union at 12 PM to 1:30 PM. To visit the Post 8 check out their face book page https://m.facebook.com/AEPost8/
